Varifocal Glasses
Varifocals aren't only for reading and driving, but are designed to be worn all the time. They are particularly suitable for people with presbyopia - when the eyes develop problems focusing on near objects due to age.
One problem with varifocals is getting used to them and learning to look through the right part of the lens can sometimes be difficult. Brille24 does not offer varifocals at the moment. But we do have a solution: two pairs of glasses, one pair for your close up work and reading and another pair for farther vision such as driving, for only £89.80.
If you want two different pairs of glasses, your prescription must contain two sets of values. The example below contains a full set of values for distance vision (D.V.), ie. for driving glasses, and a partial set of values for near vision (N.V.), ie. for reading glasses. Right and left are abbreviated not with R and L, but with the Latin abbreviations OD and OS respectively - this is still used in some countries.
The values for cylinder and axis are the same for both near and farsighted - not just in this example, but always. Only the sphere values change. The example shows that +3.00 needs to be added to the values of -2.00 for each eye for farsighted in order to get the right glasses for near sighted. Your optician who performed your eye exam hasn't done the calculation for you, you must do it yourself. The correct values for reading glasses would be +1.00 for each eye.
This process can be a bit complicated and vary from country to country. If you're not sure that you are ordering the right glasses, then send us a copy of your prescription - via post or e-mail - before ordering.
